Lord Flight has worked in the financial services industry since the 1970s, starting at Rothschilds, before joining HSBC. He moved to Guinness Mahon in 1979 where he established the Fund management business which became Guinness Flight Asset Management in 1986. He was MP for Arundel and South Downs between 1997 and 2005 and between 1999 and 2004 he held key Shadow Treasury responsibilities - latterly as Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
During 2004/5 he was Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party with special responsibility for relations with the City of London. Currently he is Chairman/Director of a portfolio of investment Funds and financial services businesses and in 2007 established Flight & Partners which is the FSA-regulated Manager of the Flight & Partners Recovery Fund. He is also a Commissioner of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. His book “All you Need to Know about Exchange Rates” was published in 1988 and he has also written “From Boom to Bust” (2008) for the Centre for Policy Studies.
