Liam Fox Speech - Immigration: An Open & Shut Case

Monday 8th July 2013

RT HON LIAM FOX MP

“IMMIGRATION:  AN OPEN AND SHUT CASE"

Throughout the UK’s history there is a theme of immigration and integration that has made this country one of the most open and generous places in the world. However, the wilful encouragement of massive and uncontrolled immigration by the previous government with no regard for the needs of the UK’s economy, has pushed the tolerance of the British public to the limit. Dr Liam Fox argues that with Labour now admitting that they got it wrong and with immigration at the top of the polls for issues affecting voters, this is now the time to look again at how we control our borders and to ensure that it is the right people who come here. It is time to stop talking about how many people are coming to the UK and to start talking about who is coming instead.
