According to the BBC, police in Azerbaijan recently interrogated a number of its citizens who voted for Armenia during the 2009 Eurovision song contest. They were apparently deemed to be a 'potential security threat'. On a more serious note, The Economist ran an article last week on the recent bonhomie which seems to be characterizing Russo-Turkish relations.

In the Telegraph today, Con Coughlin lambasted Obama for not being tough on Tehran, claiming that 'this policy of appeasement is seen by the mullahs....as a sign of weakness.' But what else can we do? Iran has already been the subject of a number of diplomatic initiatives and a broad spectrum of punitive measures, ranging from trade embargos to financial boycotts. It is difficult to see how much further...
